@Tom-K said in You can't take it with you: @Mik said in You can't take it with you: I dated a nurse once who told me she would not donate because God sent her to earth with a certain number of organs and was going to want to know why any were missing when she showed back up. Srsly. If I were you I would have given her one more organ to contend with. (Joke ) I never did. After that I could not help but wonder what other beliefs she held dear.

Ha! When I worked in a graphics shop 20 years ago we told client we’d print their large items on the BAP. They didn’t know it was short for the Big Ass Printer!

It's hard to even think of that injury. I knew he was injured badly, but I didn't realize the entire 6-wheel "tank" track rolled over him. How he isn't a complete pancake, I have no idea.

I suspect that it could be both. It gets tagged because of the word inclusion, but the review shows that it’s not really a good use for the dollars right now… My issue is with the clawbacks. Reneging on grants that have already been awarded and agreed to, or even trying to pull the money already given back.

@Renauda said in Is Willy Wonka a musical? Discuss…: No idea. Have never watched it. Just understood it was a kids’ movie. Although enjoyable, it's another movie where Hollywood messed with a very good book. They made it very sentimental. The book was a lot less so. Apparently, Roald Dahl wanted Spike Milligan to play the Willy Wonka, which would have been very different, but probably not nearly as successful.

I honestly am trying not to be this way, but at this point I have absolute (true absolute) zero trust in anything the administration says. To me, that is scary. If there is a major event (attack, meteor, etc) how can I trust a single thing said? Contrast that to January 2020 during the state of the union where I not only had normal trust in what Trump said, but was starting to like the results. (Things changed during COVID and the election denial, of course)

Would that be a promotion technically? Clearly less influential under normal circumstances. Strictly restricted to information on a need to know basis. He is banished to the respectable political wilderness of diplomats. Essentially a communications director with the privilege of a holding diplomatic passport. Great opportunity to schmooze.

@Axtremus said in Church attendance in the United States: Maybe 3 out of 4 charge goers put their phones in "airplane mode" when attending church out of respect and consideration for fellow congregants? Nope, but don’t think that doesn’t happen as well. Plus, a not insubstantial number of churchgoers are older and more rural. While @George-K and our other Geezers are pretty hip to technology, they are the exception and not the rule. I had a 2 hour lecture on the pros and cons of geolocation for tracking attendance when I was on the marketing committee for Workhouse Arts. It was very helpful in determining things like where our event attendees were coming from and going to before and after the various events to help us target our outreach, it wasn’t reliable in determining attendance at all.
